Mumbai To Shrivardhan Road Trip – 2022

One of the mesmerizing places on Konkan Coast, full of nature’s beauty and an eye-catching slice of paradise in Maharashtra is Shrivardhan. In this blog, I am sharing my Mumbai to Shrivardhan Road Trip which I did in January 2022, on my bike Dominar 400.

Short Background of Shrivardhan – Shrivardhan is a taluka, city, and municipal council Raigad district of Konkan. It has a beautiful slice of seashore on the coastal line of Kokan, and it is connected to nearby towns Harihareshwar, Diveagar, and Mangoan. So this coastal stretch comes in between Murud and Ganpatipule.

Shrivardhan was once the hometown of Peshwas, who were the Prime ministers of the Maratha Empire. This Town is also called as Town of Peshwas since it is the Birthplace of the First Peshwa. Shrivardhan has its story in Mahabharata. It is said that the great Arjun stayed here for some days during his pilgrimage.

Ok, so let’s come to our story of a long weekend trip. So this trip is of 3 days, and I am sharing below a short and simple itinerary for your weekend trip to Shrivardhan and Harihareshwar.

Day 1 (Friday): Mumbai to Shrivardhan journey (180 km) – 4.30 Hrs.
– Sunset at Shrivardhan Beach
– Seafood Dinner and Nightout in Shrivardhan
Day 2 (Saturday): Shrivardhan to Harihareshwar (20 km) – 45 mins.
-Exploring Harihareshwar
– Harihareshwar Temple, Beach, and Ganesh Gully.
Day 3 (Sunday): Shrivardhan to Mumbai return journey

So I woke up at 6 am and after all the packing, started my journey exactly at 8 am from Bhandup, Mumbai. So if you are coming from Mumbai then the distance you have to travel to reach Shrivardhan is around 185 km which requires 6 to 7 hrs easily with all the proper breaks for food, water, and obviously fuel.

From Pune, it is 160 km which will take around 5.30 to max 6 hrs. Don’t rush for the destination, take proper brakes, keep your body hydrated and enjoy this beautiful journey towards Konkan, especially if you are going by bike.

On this journey, I was traveling with one of my friends. Then after exactly 110 km, we took our first stop for breakfast near kolad, in Hotel Shree Samartha Krupa. They serve really tasty food, specially poha and misal.

It took us around 3 hrs to reach there. Then, our actual journey started with the vibes of Kokan, as you move on towards the Konkan coast you will notice the beautiful path full of greenery and long palm, coconut trees. 

So after Kolad, the ghat road was nice for 50-60 km, a completely new highway, but the last 20 km were a bit difficult as the path was full of potholes.

So somehow we managed to ride on that road in strong sunlight and finally, we entered Harihareshwar through the gate on which written as “Shrimant Balaji Vishwanath Peshwe Praveshdwar“.

Finally, we reached Shrivardhan at 3 PM, it took us 7 hrs with all the breaks. So our stay was in Hotel Seascape Beach Resort which was hardly on 1-minute distance from Shrivardhan Beach.

This stay was really sweet, simple, and beautiful as there was no crowd, a very relaxing location surrounded by greenery all over.

With birds chirping sound, we had our lunch at 4 PM after getting fresh. We took our power nap for 1 hour, got energized, and then moved towards Shrivardhan Beach for a beautiful sunset. 

Try to reach Shrivardhan Beach before 5.30 pm, so you won’t miss a golden hour. Enjoy your happy sunset hour, and collect all the beautiful memories of this place in your heart.

Watersports were very less at Shrivardhan beach as compared to Alibaugh and Ganpatipule. What I saw is there was a camel/horse ride, normal boating, and ATV ride which was quite good.

To be honest, this beach was very relaxing because of the less crowd, heart soothing wind and pinkish colors of the sunset were a mesmerizing moment for us.

After spending beautiful 2 hours on the beach, we moved back to our hotel, got freshened up, and started exploring the nightlife of Shrivardhan. As it’s a village, after sunset, there’s nothing to do much because of blackout. So we took a great walk in the dim light of street lamps and enjoyed the small pathways of Shrivardhan. 

Then the time to have some lip-smacking Konkan nonveg food, especially seafood! So we had our dinner in Tavsalkar Seafood Restaurant which is very famous here. Give it a try and you will enjoy the Konkani style veg/nonveg food here.

And then our day 1 ended with a beautiful stargazing session near our seascape beach resort.

Activities you can do at Shrivardhan Beach:
Shrivardhan beach is the cleanest beach among the nearby beaches Harihareshwar and Diveagar. This Beach has a nice atmosphere with unpolluted air and a Blue sea.

Popular activities of Shrivardhan beach are Boating, Swimming, Horse and Camel Riding, Beach Volleyball, Beach walking, and Buggy Rides. Also, you can do your amazing photo session.

Best time to visit Shrivardhan:
Monsoon and Winter are the best seasons to enjoy the mesmerizing sightseeing of Shrivardhan as, during this period, the temperatures are a bit milder with less Humid conditions. Due to the beaches the whole region is Humid, the temperature can go up to 40 degrees in summer which will be quite hectic to explore this village during April and May months.
